Figure drawing sessions (2)...

Here are just a few sketches from last figure drawing sessions.
I start to realise that my absolut preference is to draw portraits
rather than the whole figure, unless he or she is dressed so that I can be inspired drawing the clothes with the textures, colors and patterns. I don't feel any ultimate goal in nude drawing other than learning observation and drawing.
(These are quick poses and the smalest once that fits into my scan.)

The execution of a studio drawing...

... well, I guess it's finished... Would Rembrandt agrée? I might have the same amount of whites as he had of darks... (he he)
... a little further... Still life drawing and study under execution...
I would say it's a little more than half the way to be finished.
(this image is for now cropped)

My Moleskine today (9)…

I bought this bottle of very delicous olive oil the other day. I "flashed" on the bottle design and it's golden oil at my first glance and this drawing finally joins my last "Moleskin today" drawings...

My new sketchbook...

This week I spend most of my time with my daughter so I didn't draw very much. Some days we walked in the streets of Paris... and while doing this I discovered in particular two interesting shops. The first one was some sort of old styled shop with a strange mix of nice and decorativ objects that inspires me for drawing, like glass bottles, seashells and lots of other curiosities... of course I couldn't resist to buy a few seashells I hope to show you here soon, and a simple but nicely designed glass bottle (a bit of it just here). I know I'll be tempted to return there.
The second shop is a place you can buy notebooks and sketchbooks in leather among other things having a relation with writing. The leather notebooks can be rechargeable and as I asked if the recharges could be in different kinds of paper the man took out one sample made with heavier paper. He looked back at me with a big smile, as I for sure must have made a surprised face. "Amazing!" I said, this is just like my favorit watercolor sketchbook!!
He explained to me that he had asked the manufacturer to propose him sketchbooks that could fit in his leather covers, which come in different sizes, colors and leathers.
I'm happy to have discovered this place as not only it's a good idea and a nice product, I can also get my sketchbooks in different sizes now and I won't have any problem to find them again, as many times you can't be quite sure of that. Lovely!
Of course I left the store with this small sketchbook in brown leather in my bag... and a smile upon my face.

My Moleskine today (8)…

I felt the urge to draw today and I finally got a while alone tonight.
This is what inspired me for this drawing out of "anything" in my Moleskin:
A combination of recycled papers, the coarse cotton ribbon and a zebra...

My Moleskine today (7)…

Study of today... a minimum time dedicated to drawing every day is good to keep going and good for my mental health. Even if it's just to draw this.
This time I enjoyed the feeling to draw with crayon on Moleskine paper and I like the greyish result on the cream coloured background. I'll try it again...

My Moleskine today (6)…

I got a sad announcement from someone… it made me feel terribly sad.
I wonder how I can still draw sometimes. Drawing seems to help me to calm down my emotions and to get my mind in order again.
Of course I've experienced many days too when it's just impossible to do anything at all... I know one of those days will come soon and I won't be able to prevent it.
